Here’s our guide for putting together a great Camp Canada showcase and putting your best foot forward for your Camp Canada application!

So you’ve started your Camp Canada application process, but now you’ve come to the part where you need to tell us about yourself and convince us why you’re a great fit for summer camp.

You’re probably feeling ALL of the feels and aren’t sure where to start. We totally understand that and don’t worry, you’re not alone in feeling that way.

The showcase is the part of the application process that the majority of Camp Canada applicants find the hardest...but we’re here to help! Here is a list of our tips and tricks for making your showcase stand out.

Top tip #1

Show us your best self

Your showcase is your chance to shine and show your true self. It’s also an opportunity to show potential employers who YOU are and why you’ll be great at camp. Here are some points to cover when you’re putting together your showcase:

  • Tell us about yourself and what makes you unique!
  • Include any relevant camp experience you might have or experience working with kids.
  • What interests you about working at camp?
  • Why do you want to travel to Canada?

Also, feel free to include things about yourself that you weren’t able to cover in the first portion of your application.

If English is your second language, or you can speak another language, it's a great opportunity to record an introductory video to showcase those language skills!

Top tip #2

Choose your format

When it comes to submitting your showcase, you have plenty of options! Based on your personality, skills, and preferences, you can submit a showcase in any of the following formats:

Video

Whether you love being in front of the camera or even if you’re a little camera shy, video is a great way for us to get to know you and find out more about what makes you a great fit for camp!

If you specialize in a certain activity (i.e. playing an instrument, theatre, dance, etc.), it’s great to demonstrate your skills and abilities to Camp Directors.

Art Project

Are you passionate about art? If so, it’s time to channel your inner creative and send us samples of your art projects (remember to include labels and a brief explanation of your work!).

Get creative and visual!

If you’re not keen on any of the above formats, feel free to get creative and try something a bit different. Why not try a photo slideshow or a combination of a video and art project?

The choice is up to you!

Top tip #3

Short and sweet

Remember to keep your showcase short, but impactful. Be sure to cover the points mentioned above, but there’s no need to go longer than a couple of minutes when submitting a video.

Top tip #4

Quality

This your chance for our team and Camp Directors to find out more about you. Do your best to submit a high quality showcase.

Your submission should be high quality but no need to stress out over equipment - an iPhone or Android phone is good enough quality!

Top Tip #5

Have fun!

As we mentioned, this is your chance to get creative and show us your real self...so remember to have fun with it! Camps are a fun environment so this the perfect time to channel your creativity and get a little goofy.

We hope our tips and tricks have helped give you a better of how to put together your showcase. We also hope it has left you feeling more confident and excited for your Camp Canada experience!
