Wahoo, you're profile is now ready to be seen by camp directors. Here is when you will find your summer home in Canada!

Sometimes it takes longer than you would expect. You can get placed as soon as 24 hours, or it could take up to 3 months - just do your best to be patient!

your authentic Canadian adventure awaits.

6. get prepared

When you know where you're going, we'll get you there.

We will organize your insurance, let you know when and where you need to fly to and provide other details about your placement.

7. orientation

Get ready for your time at camp.

During your virtual orientation, you will learn more about what you can expect throughout the summer. From how to open a Canadian bank account and get your social insurance number when you arrive in Canada to wellbeing support and Biometrics.

You can complete this orientation from the comfort of your own home before travelling.

8. fly to Canada

You may even bump into one of your fellow camp staff on the flight, as you'll all head to camp around the same time.

ready for your epic Canadian adventure?

When should I apply for the program and is there a deadline?

Easy answer – now! Applying early gives you the maximum choice of camps, and it is easier for us to accommodate preferences. However, we accept applications until May when all the positions have been filled for the season.

If you aren't able to arrive in Canada by the specified date, please contact us. You may be able to move your application forward, depending on your earliest availability date and skill set.

Where are the camps located? Can I choose the location?

The majority of the camps that we work with are located in Ontario. We also work with a good number of camps in Quebec, British Columbia, and Alberta. You can express your preferences on your application, but we cannot give you a guarantee, as it depends on the Camp Director’s needs and work permit eligibility. The best way to influence your location is by including your skills and camp type preferences.

Can I get placed at the same camp as my friend/partner?

You are able to link your application with one other person who is has also applied as a First Time camp counsellor through Camp Canada. The team and camp directors will then be able to see your preference of going to the same camp.

However, we cannot guarantee friends or couples being placed at the same camp, as camp directors hire based on the needs of their camp and what roles are available.

Can I travel before or after camp on my work permit?

Yes - most visitors are permitted to stay in Canada, for up to six months. Ask us about extending your stay in Canada during your welcome call!

If you intend to remain in Canada as a visitor after the expiration date on your work permit, you must complete the process to extend your status as a visitor before your current status expires, which costs $100 CAD. We will provide instructions on how to do this during the summer.

Can I apply if I have a pre-existing medical condition?

Yes, you can apply. Each participant will be required to have a medical form completed by your doctor to confirm that you are physically and mentally able to work at camp.

Once you have your form completed by a licensed physician, we will contact you to discuss the conditions and challenges of working at camp. We'll also and supply you with the support you need for a successful time at camp. (Please note that the Health Insurance policy organized by Camp Canada does not cover any unstable pre-existing conditions.)
